What fertilization schedule should be followed for brugs in a greenhouse environment? thanks for any help.
fertilization in a greenhouse
good question, would be interested to see answers, wonder if they will go dormant? i am lazy, use timed release on all my plants and a liquid bloom booster once in a while for fun.
Anna,
When I do fertilize my baby Brugs in the greenhouse I use Peters 20-20-20 once a week....I don't fertilize the bigger ones..I want them to stay pretty much leafless...helps keep the bugs down. Maybe someone will come along that will be of more help.
I usually fertilize all winter with Miracle Grow. Yesterday I fertilized with the fishy stuff.( Think that was somebodys suggestion to make them flower earlier.) Might have been a mistake. The greenhouse is pretty humid and now I've got greyish mold growing on the soil. So I've sprayed everything with baking soda. And I've turned the heat up to and am putting together a new fan as we speak. I fertilize all winter to keep the plants flowering or to get them to flower. I also use 1000 watt halide lamps and heat the greenhouse.
Fishy stuff is more environmentally friendly for sure. Baking them in a greenhouse though immediately after applying the fishy stuff might be a mistake. Have you considered possibly simply supplementing the plants with some C02? I think there is a book out somewhere, gardening with C02 or something similar. We did an experiment in college where we simply bagged a plant...filled the bag up with C02...and then tested for simple sugars in the leaves a few hours later with another plant of the same type left out in the open air. The results were very evident and in favor of C02 being supplemented. I haven't read up on Gardening with C02 though myself, but I am aware that books are available for those looking for that extra push. I am sure someone with a little bit of ingenuity could devise something simple and fairly cheap that would work in that regard. Anyone here familiar with gardening with C02 in practice or perhaps just reading?
