i have some dust & very small pieces of cowboy hardwood charcoal left over in the bag. does putting that in my compost tumbler seem okay? the package says "no coal, no chemicals, just hardwood."(paraphased).
what you you all think?
thanks,

cowboy hardwood charcoal in compost; okay?
Very fine. In fact you might want to crunch it up and use it in potting mix.
There is an article in DG about "Bio char" if you want to read more.
Being back east you probably have acid soil. Ashes are a good way to increase alkalinity. SallyG is right about cowboy charcoal being "biochar". Supposedly very good for your soil.
