I planted Lista de Gardia eggplant and was getting the loveliest white eggplants with purple streaks. They are now coming out school bus yellow with purple streaks. Anybody have a clue on this one?

All eggplants turn yellow or brown when ripe. At that point they are not very edible. Good only if you want to save seeds. They tend to get smaller and smaller as the season progresses if you are judging on size.

Ive been wondering the same thing myself- why are my eggplants turning brown? Thanks for the info! Mine are very small but heavy, only about the size of a baseball, so I've been leaving them on longer to get bigger but they don't. I think my problem is not enough moisture retention in my soil. I"ll start picking them smaller.
Tyler-what kind are they? There are many different types of EP and they all get different sizes.
I'm pretty sure they're Black Beauty- at least that's the only kind I remember the nursery carrying. On the picture, they looked bigger.
