Bird-attracting plants/flowers for SHADE

Hello-I hope this is the right forum to ask for help. I have always gotten such friendly and useful responses in all the forums I visit so I'm sure this one is no different! I have a friend whose daughter's girl scout troup is setting up a "bird haven" at a local preschool as a service project. It is in a shady location. I am very aware of bird-attracting flowers for SUN, however I am having a little difficulty thinking of flowers that attract birds in a shady area. Since this is a not-for-profit endeavor, we are trying to think of low-cost or no-cost materials-such as seeds or digging transplants from yards. I was hoping any of you thoughtful and resourceful DG members would have some suggestions for me. Thanks so much!

Cardinal Flower, Columbine (these might need caging from deer or rabbit) Bleeding Hearts along with the others should attract Hummingbirds.
