I cringe when I see plantings that attract bees, butterfly's and hummingbirds along (and especially between) highways. I hate to think how many unsuspecting creatures are lured to their deaths from all the cars.

I never thought about it that way. You have a point there.

True yet you didn't plant them, Mike, you photographed them, right?

True but there is merit to the fact that bees love this Nepeta, like alot. I'm sure they get nailed getting to the plants. The plant works well in the meridian but bee mortality in that area must be high. Gotta think of all of natures creatures.

Yes, we do.

I do laugh, though, as only a few blocks away from where this photo was taken a wasp flew up my pant leg and stung me all along both of my legs last August. Very painful.

Could have been a lot worse had the wasp gone up the leg!

It did but I was lucky. I ended up in the McDonalds washroom and the staff caught the perpetrator in a sundae cup. I brought it back to the nursery for ID. I was in so much pain, I had to call it a day and use bags of frozen pees.

And you didn't put it on You Tube! I'd have paid to see the scene.

No. A few years back, while driving a "spec truck" for a nursery, a wasp flew in the window and landed between my legs on the highway at high speed. Bringing a 3 ton truck full of nursery product to a stop from 80km/hr while maintaining composure and attempting to not be stung was very difficult. I like bees but wasps are nasty.
