I love this shot taken just after a rain. I mixed in tropicals to achieve this lush look.
Gosh, I'm sorry it's so dark in this format. I'm using this image as my screensaver, and it looks so much brighter. Oh well...

Garden scene
It's beautiful! Looks like a tropical forest.
Thanks, Entlie. I hope you had a great birthday. I do wish I had used a flash when I took the pic. This winter I'll post a pic of my insanely crowded back porch. I'd love to see inside pics of member's GH's in Jan. I'm afraid when it comes wintering plants indoors, I could be on that Hoarders reality show. It's so bad that last winter my orange bird of paradise bloomed and I didn't discover it until I was moving things outdoors in April. By then the flower was turning brown.
Beautiful. What is the purple plant in the bottom left corner?
It's Pennisetum Princess Caroline, and it's listed as cold hardy in zone 8a. It's a beautiful, lustrous ornamental grass that I prefer to non cold hardy Purple Fountain Grass. It grows about 3 - 4' tall x 2' wide in my location.
I have that pennesiteum Princess Caroline also and have been very pleased with it. I was warned against it by a Columbia friend because it (supposedly) can become invasive but I have not found it so at all. I sort of planted it off by itself so if it got nasty I could yank it out and now I am sorry I did not mix it in like you did, your scene is lovely. Do you know how to use Picassa? It is free from microsoft and you can edit photos like that and it is very easy to lighten/brighten it up.
I had 2 clumps of this grass growing last summer, and they were big and beautiful. I love how the color starts out more greenish and turns deep maroon as summer heats up. I'm glad that you know folks in Columbia growing this grass, ardesia. I dug up and discarded both stands of mine last April, because I saw no signs of growth and my other ornamental grasses had taken off. Now I wonder if it really was dead. The roots were hard to dig up and there was no sign of vole damage. I so hope this beautiful grass returns next spring.
yes, I have picassa. DUH! Will adjust and re-post. Thanks!
Thanks,MmeX. I could use your computer guy who's moving to the barrier islands.lol.
LOL, I think X is the computer guru, her clients are moving down here.
I shoulda re-read that thread. I definitely need some kind of professional help. LOL!
Lol .. yeah .. I'm not moving. They are moving on Thursday - I'm keeping my fingers crossed there is some little geeky kid living in their neighborhood.
I have not received any response from my guy. I am sorry ANne, I had forgotten about it but I will try phoning later today and see what's up.
They are moving to a street that is mere blocks from the local tech college, Technical College of the Lowcountry, surely someone in the computer science program would love a part time job. We'll find something.
Thanks .. I'm used to screaming through the phone at my really deaf dad trying to fix computer problems .. so one more won't be a problem until it gets to something I can't solve over the phone.
