ID Please

I found this little guy growing in the same area as my Opuntia humifusa and the tiny flowers felt like dried cactus blooms very stiff and papery to the touch. It was a very spindly plant and appeared in 1 week and disappeared 1 week later.

Cornflower or bachelors button would be my guess. I used to see these growing for miles along the roadside in MI.
