Parsley Caterpillar

New Bern, NC(Zone 8a)

This little guy and a friend munched through several stems before I saw him. Now that I see he would have become a swallowtail, I shouldn't have relocated him to my compost area. I'll know better next time.

Don't feel bad Entilie - until Alice told me what my pic was I had no clue :) he's been munching my dill - I'll have to check to see if he's made his way to the parsley in the same pot :)

I gave up on parsley a few years back:lol: Seemed like anytime I brought any home they were chewed to stumps within a day or so:lol: I would have been happy to share AFTER the plants bulked up a bit--guess they like the fresh new growth:)

Since Hurricane Irene, my parsley is coming back and not being eaten!

Give it time, Entlie! Just when it gets back to full growth, you'll go out the next day and have nice Parsley "stalks" again. I'm not willing to kill them on the spot because of the beauty they become, but I do move them FAR away from my Veggie/Herb garden! Like, 1/4 of a mile!

I am a morning person too, if I sleep in I am a slug for the rest of the day.

I have two cats .. there is no snooze button on the kitty alarm clocks - when they think it's time to get up (6am) they start walking on me. If I'm not quick enough the claws kick in.
