Fall predictions

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

What are y'all predicting this fall's weather to be like? I have several things that I need to plant out but I'm afraid to do so right now. I think they would instantly perish :( I have to water almost daily as it is now just to keep everything from completely frying :(

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am not setting anything out right now either, but I predict the weather will change come October, as a matter of fact I am sure it will.
Hang in there kid, we are all struggling to survive.

I think things are going to heat up in the tropics and we'll get some rain at some point in time before the end of hurricane season. Things should start cooling down enough to plant by September. I think we'll finally cool off around January. LOL

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

I had the same dilemma last year. I waited until October and planted the stuff. It was all native stuff, Salvia and Asters, and they used the winter to set roots. They are handling our drought quite well so far this summer. Anyway, probably best to wait another month or two to plant anything.

I predict cooler weather by winter LOL. I have things in pots and I am not planting any of them now. I just keep them in part shade and water daily, or twice a day if needed. I didn't even plant my cactus in this heat! I waited too long so now I am thinking they will have to overwinter in the house and get planted out early next spring. Rain would be nice.

Can Y'all believe that last winter Bartlesville Ok. had a - 28° that is 28 below zero and a day or so a go had triple digits and we had some minus nights during the winter and are now around 20+ days with triple digits So for sure I don't predict anything LOL this time last year I was visiting friends and relatives in Northern California and woke up to several 41° mornings sure wish I had gone to visit again this year....

Arlington, TX

I spent 4 days in MI 7/26-7/29. It was in the low to upper 70's, over cast with a little drizzle now and then. I wish I was still there!

low to upper 70s now that do sound nice

Old timers here are predicting a hard winter normally following a summer this grim.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

We are 17 inches behind on rainfall not sure we will catch up this year.

Arlington, TX

I hope its not another severe winter. Last years temps were bad enough. Imagine how well the heat weakened plants will handle a harsher than normal winter.

Unfortunately, my prediction aligns with that of the old timers...not a good thought at all...

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

I'm holding off as well, I probably won't get much if any production from my tomato crop, cucumbers and peppers should do ok. Keeping my fingers crossed that my cole crops do alright. It's been a bummer year.

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

I''m beginning to wonder if fall will ever come :( LOL

Do you think it's possible for us to have another winter like the last two?

Talihina, OK

Still very hot here in SE OK but the clouds are increasing day by day so at least everything is not drying out so quick and the days are getting shorter so that will cut down on the amount of evaporation

Irving, TX(Zone 8a)

I am dreaming of SNOW in september .....

sNOw

ROFLMAO...Snow...Love when it snows so I can go watch everyone that ventures out in it and how they drive and how things shut down ...sorry is something that is going to take a while to get used to when I grew up in snow and driving in it

But my prediction is ....................................................................................................

We are all going to be thrilled when it cools off and start complaining about how cold it is in the winter :-)
and I am not trying to be a smart @ just trying to bring a smile to our faces

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am not looking forward to snow or freezing weather, but cooler temperatures would sure be nice!!

Arlington, TX

Snow? How about some rain!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

we had thunder and wind last night but no rain made it to our place :-(

Arlington, TX

Thats just a tease. I saw the plants being blown around the other day so I went outside to sit in the "breeze" it was like a giant blow dryer was hitting me.
C

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, you are correct. We will complain about the heat and then complain about the cold.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

you are so right Phyllis but I never remember complaining because it was this dry. I sure hope the drought eases as the year goes by.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I know I had thought about going out to sit in the breeze too since it was after sun set but no way I stayed in under the ceiling fan instead LOL

True Christi we all will but that is just the way we are no matter where we live...just remember when you say it is cold I will tease you LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

As I am sitting here Dh just complained the TV lost signal and then I heard a rumbling..so he went and put the mower in and said he has a drop hit is bald head ... I said leave the mower out it might help LOL

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

and wash your car and leave the windows rolled down and...

What was the mower out for?!?? Did you really have something to mow? Wow!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

No LOL he hooked the little wagon up as I cleaned out the greenhouse today
When we first started building it I used plastic to cover it with and all of the plastic that was over the top has now dried out and was falling down.
So now it is all ready for cooler weather when my tropicals will need to be inside

as for the rain..I told him to leave the mower out and he should have we had maybe 5 min of a very light sprinkling
If predictions are right I guess I need to really do alot more reading and studying for Xeriscape Gardening.
