I saw this little bird in Big Bend National Park this week. There were around four or five of them flitting around. From what I understand about the bird, it winters in Mexico and can be seen in the southern areas of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as well as some rare sightings in a few other southern states.
Blue-throated Hummingbird (Lampornis clemenciae)
Wow very cool Patti ! Thanks so much for posting it!
Beautiful images, very nice.
What an exciting find! Your photos are just wonderful, thanks for sharing them with us.
Thanks to all. It was very exciting to sit and watch these hummingbirds. They are so large compared to the Ruby-throated which are common in my area and while their wingbeat is a bit slower, it is a lot louder. I felt very fortunate to be able to see these birds.
