Could someone-anyone-leave a few links for me to find some trusted, more uncommon passionflower seed or plant?
Everything I google leads me to common types like incarnata and caerulea, etc. Or to EBay-which I don't trust. If you have
personally bought from EBay, or are a reputable seller of unusual species, could you let yourself be known? I want to try some
new passions, and I don't want to spend a year and a half growing a specie that turns out to be the wrong one!.
I haven't made up any trade list yet but I'm also game for doing some of that if anyone is interested.
My trade offerings will be angel trumpet (named) rooted cuttings, not passions.
Thanks troopers!
Where to order seeds?
Have you looked at georgiavines.com? She's also on ebay.
Rox
TY Roxxanne. I've tried a few of her seeds in the past, and not had much luck,
so am a bit 'gunshy' to order from her again. I'm very good with seeds too, almost
all of my passions are from seed, so I don't know if I just got an old batch from her
or what. I'd love to get some of the more unusual types. :)
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm pretty good with seeds too and have hit or miss luck with passies. You can also try the passiflora society. You have to be a member but I don't think the membership is too much, then the seeds are $5.
Roxy, I didn't even think of that. Will give that a try!
Update on that Roxy-They want 30.00 bucks a year, and the thing is, if I join I want a forum. I'd love to have the access to the seeds, but
I also love chatting with like gardeners-so I may end up back at the mercy of georgiavines....unless someone/you have more suggestions.
But Thank you-I do like the site and may yet end up joining. :)
I agree, they need a forum. Maybe email someone and make the suggestion. $30 is alot just for access to the seedbank. I'll keep looking. I just got a greenhouse so I'll be looking for seeds too.
Congrats on the greenhouse. They're wonderful. But watch out for whiteflies. I don't know why, but those little buggers must be packed in the same box as the 'put it together yourself' greenhouse comes in!

Have you tried Davesgarden own Market place ?
Also on Ebay I buy and sell on ebay but don't have any passi's listed there at the moment.
there is an Excellent seller : passiflorista on Ebay, sells very nice plants
Thank you mjsponies. I don't really frequent Ebay but if you say there's some good sellers I'll
have to look :) I did find Butterfly world just today. If you scroll down alphabetically, they've got a
huge list of passie seeds and some plants. I'm just wondering how fresh the seed would be this time of
year, or should I wait until fall to order?

Forgot all about Butterflyworld! Thanks for reminding me!
I subscribe to several Butterfly sites, but just found this one. Lol, and I used to live nearby them, and never went in. Have to take a trip to the east coast soon :)
Just found this, have you seen it?

Oh, I'd would love to have some Gordon. Please send me a Dmail when they are ready, I'd be more than happy to purchase fresh, viable
seed from you. TY, TY, TY! :)
Anything else have fruit?
I second that question Gordon. Please tell us here first. :)
I hate to be a jerk, but GeorgiaVines is a bust. I've had problems with every kind of seed purchased from that person, and no, "you're doing it wrong" is not the explanation. I wouldn't waste my time. The seeds are old and no longer viable (for the most part), and if you pay close attention, the descriptions of the plants are either copy-and-pasted from one species to the next, taken word for word from another website, or just plain incorrect.
I have bought plants and seeds from Jim Nevers (Passiflorista, on eBay) several times. He's one of the FEW sources I would trust.
I have also purchased seeds from http://www.rarexoticseeds.com (Canada) and http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/ (USA) with nothing but positive experiences. There's a minimum order when purchasing from Rarexoticseeds, but it's low, the S&H is perfectly reasonable, and the shipping itself is FAST without ANY problems from Customs/Homeland Security (or any other garbage along those lines).
Just recently got some P. seemanii seeds from Rarexoticseeds and 12 out of 20 seeds germinated promptly. More than enough.
Seeds of P. quadrangularis from TradeWindsFruit germinated quickly (as the species typically does), and I now have 7 one-year-old specimens of that species strung up indoors on net trellises after spending a summer on a blazing hot balcony here in Missouri.
Always read STORE POLICIES first and find out if they're basically offering items that may not even be in stock. If they run their catalog that way, your first headache will come from waiting 6 months to get ANYTHING in the mail.
my temptation x temptation seeds are available.. .50 cents each.. order as many or as few2.00 shipping
Hate to be the dark cloud here but I buy from georgia vines and there seeds are excellent every one grows Jim Nevers seeds are excellent too These days I will buy a plant before I waste my time with seeds lol ebay those seeds are old they don't stay viable for ever thats why if I am not planting them i give them to some one who will
Well, I'm going to have to partially agree with PassifloraCraze. It's a 50 50 with me too, at GeorgiaVines. I just ordered (about 2 mo.'s ago) around 6 or 7 pkgs. The ones she had listed as 'new this month'...were. They must have just been picked, because they germinated as a passie should. I am still waiting to see the others, and think the seed is not fresh. I've said that before. It's a chance with them. I know the old addage, 'passions take up to a year to germinate...' Well, not if the seed is fresh. Fresh seed always comes up for me within 2 months, usually within the first month. I've resigned myself to no longer ordering from them unless it is one of the 'new this month' species/cultivars.
And thanks for the tip on Jim Nevers. I will check that out, even though I'm not really an Ebay person, it's worth a look. :)
I agree. And I have bought plants from Nevers, they were nice.
