This image is from my ipod so it's not very good.
By process of elimination I think it is a Broad-Winged. It's tail was too short for any accipiter and it was too small for a Red-Shouldered which I see almost every day in my yard here in SE Massachusetts..
Anyone agree with me?
Thanks!

CLOSED: Broad-Winged Hawk?
I'm struggling to see any useful detail! It looks as if it might have white cheeks and a dark crown, but that's far from certain (good thing, as if correct it would exclude every N American Buteo ;-) Agree it's not an Accipiter. But I suspect without more details, I'd be leaving it as unidentified.
Resin
Thanks Resin. It's been so long since I saw an interesting bird without me actually on the prowl for it I didn't know what to do without my camera! I did manage some killer looks from only about 15 feet away though.
I'll have to trust my instincts and experience and call it a Broad-Winged - even without a pic to prove it.
