Help finding new binoculars

Elmhurst, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi!

I hope all of your Summer plans, gardens and pursuits are going along well! I would love some suggestions on the purchase of new binoculars primarily for backyard birdwatching. I will also use on bird walks but only occasionally.

Any advice/suggestions would be great. I am looking for specifics like brand, some optics suggestions, etc. Looking for specific suggestions like 9x25 etc. Heck, I don't even know what that means, just quoting some binos I just found in the house. I'm willing to spend a decent chunk of change.

We've recently had a cedar waxwing and a baby cardinal that I would have loved to have seen a bit closer.

Thanks in advance and have a great day!

Hi seaotter, I don't know what a "decent chunk of change" means but here is some advice and binocular preferences from bird expert Pete Dunne.

I wound up buying the Nikon Monarchs and really love them but each person is different so be sure to try them out before buying.

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to go shopping!

Did you find a decent pair?

I was recommended by a birder to get anything waterproof/fogproof and the best for birds in trees is 8x42 and he uses 10x42 for hawk watching.
This is what I ordered

They really knocked my socks off when I first started using them, as they let in so much light for a good, clear picture. The only drawback is my camera is not so good and I cannot get the same picture.
