I've had a Peace Lily for about 3 years. It bloomed the 1st 2, but hasn't bloomed since. What do I need to do to get it to bloom again?
Peace Lily Help!
There was one in my care a few years ago that quit blooming, and I'd heard they shouldn't be fertilized. When someone suggested fertilizer (duh!) I hit it with some, and got a good response.
If that's not the problem, try changing the light level. I've read in McDonald that sometimes they actually bloom better with less light. Beats me why that would be. I'd try going one direction then the other if it didn't begin showing buds.
Providing the brightest indirect light is the best thing you can do. Monthly fertilizer at half-strength will also promote flowers as will tight roots. Repotting discourages flowers. Finally, some peace lily varieties are hybridized for leaf color, size, and texture at the expense of flowers.
