Mines making lots of babies! People on ebay are loving it

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

I have one of these too. It's one of my favoites. I love the dark color!

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

yes... both of mine [ the origional seedling, and the one grown from t's seed ] are blooming nicely.. and growing lots... and there's a fruit hanging for every flower I've had... now what...
passiflora ice cream.. with the new ice cream maker.. maybe a white chocholate ice cream with a candied passiflora swril perhaps...

Mulberry, FL

Mine was grown from seed to 1 seedling out of 5 seeds mine not producing fruit but flowers all over I can settle for that :)

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

Last year my maypop had bushels of fruit for the first time and I had no idea what to do with all of it so I just kept eating them. Everytime I walked past the vines I'd grab a couple and squeeze them into my mouth. That Ice cream sounds awesome! What else do you do with the fruit? Maybe jelly?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Dana.. mmmm no fruit for you.....judging by how this one is settng fruit.. that's strange..... mine always has lots of a few types of bees on the flower.. and lots of ants.. I enjoyed seeing it was self fertile last year as it was the only one blooming when it started... and this year there's a few types flowerng..
Roxxanne .. well.. I see it n alot o things... beverages.. and lots of deserts.. cupcakes..tarts.. and beverages.. [ I saw a passon fruit martini offered ] I did make a white chocolate ice cream with white chocholate chunks.. and a blackberry sherbert swirl yesterday, If I'd have used the temptation fruits.. it could have been a fried green passiflora swirl.. I'm weeks away [ till they ripen ] from trying to use it somehow .. they are hard... green and fuzzy now..

I don't think if mine did I would try it not all are good to eat next year I am going to have a bunch new from UK and Austraila and Spain can't wait to see you ever plant any of those seeds I sent you??

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

MMMM 'm not sure where the passi seeds/plants went to in the garden... they were from Indonesia or somewhere exotic... right ... but I've noticed a few that I think might be them emergng from the undergrowth...in places didn't remember planting passi's ...
wasn't this one of the seeds.... I just love it's shade of blue.. I'm trying to confine it to a trellis going up and over head as you first get into the garden... my favorite clitorea arch.. getting lots of flowers every day from it.. lets see ... there must be others growing.. I'lll check

Gorgeous! I'm getting 1 or 2 flowers at a time.

Punta Gorda, FL(Zone 9b)

Both of your photos are lovely Gordon and Roxxanne, I wish I was as good at photography. But not to mind, I love
admiring yours :)

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Thanks... yes.. lots of flowers on T X T ... that was a few square feet of the plant.. there's a pile of plant and flowers out of sight there....
I mght at this juncture.. mention my new fertlizer love... ALGOFLASH
they hold extencive world records... [ check out the web site ] not available in many places.. but,,, the local prce is not as good as buying it from the company and having it shpped in.. but I often do it as I'm out/low now... algoflash.com
so .. went by a nursdery yesterday.. [ yes I'm stll buying.. t cost me $280 to escape... wth a blue atlas cedar and two cypress things .. oh.. but not for me... for a friend ... I wouldn't have room for a 6" pot ] but they were having ther year end sale... what a buy a caerulea... and with flower

this picture sums it up here... flowers.. and fruit in abundance.. now what does one do with a bushell of them..

So, the Temptation is self fertile? Mine is not producing fruit so I hand pollinated the last flower with Incarnata.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

can't imagine why you're not getting fruits... the mother plant from last year are settng fruits on every flower.. the newer seedling.. a plant i grew out from her seeds ths spring.. seem to be setting fruit on maybe 1/2 the flowers.. mght be a maturity thing.. here's mommy..

Roxy, my incarnatas are not as pretty as yours. They have shorter, paler petals. I wonder if they are genetically
different, yours and mine? At least the bees and butterflies can't tell the difference :)

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

They probably are different, maybe even a natural hybrid. I don't see too many butterflies on them, they're too busy on my butterfly bushes, but they do have tons of bees. They are so fragrant it's like a cloud, especially at night and first thing in the morning. But man do they take over! I haven't used my grill for a week and they have engulfed it. I think I'm going to try to trim it back today. Might need a chair and whip!

Here's the whole thing

WOW...WOW...
Roxy.. I'd start with plastic explosives.. then in with the chair and whip...
it seems to me there should be more flowers.. are you feeding it some..
that has the look of a plant that overwntered right there.. and grew back from well established roots..
what's winter care for it like

Punta Gorda, FL(Zone 9b)

Lol, now that vine has passion! Could you get a shot of the flowers?
Or is that the one you posted above? It's really pretty if it is

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

It's the incarnata from above. I haven't fertilized it, I'm afraid to. It just dies back to the ground in the winter and comes back late spring. There do seem to be less flowers this year than last. I got it cut back a bit. Maybe I'll give it some fert this weekend.

Punta Gorda, FL(Zone 9b)

My incarnata does that too, (flowers less some years)
Ferts do seem to help me too. . Last week I noticed my Lavender Lady wasn't ' putting out.'
I fertilized, and within days, I'm going to have about 50 blooms :)

My temptaion has a small fruit on the one that I pollinated with incarnata. What will I get????

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Temptation x Temptation seeds are available for sale or trade...

Thumbnail by GordonHawk
Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Roxanne.. I'm not totally sure.. I'd imagine you could get a temptation as it might have been the self pollination .. especially if you didn't remove it's pollon.. and bag it.... also it might be either of the parents that made the cross to get temptation.. or the one you used as a parent...

I did remove the pollen but I didn't bag it. The only other one I have blooming is the incarnata. We'll just have to wait and see. That's a pretty one. Who is it?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

anastasia

Punta Gorda, FL(Zone 9b)

Beautiful photography Gordon. You captured the soft colors just right.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Oh Roxxanne... sorry...from where it was .. I thought it was anastasia.. I didn't really look ... what it really is... is
Passiflora x Alato - Caerulea.. it had so grown out of it's area..

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

Whatever her name is. she's beautiful!

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Thanks Roxxanne..

That's gorgeous too! How many types of passies do you have?

Mulberry, FL

I just bought Anastasia will be next year before i get flowers love that one I also bought Victoria hope its like the pink you had last year I really liked that one.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Roxxanne...
well I have 5 types this year... one of which just started to grow out.. I'm not sure just which one it is.. it could be a seedling I'd planted out.. and then was buried by the underplantings.. only to emerge later... or perhaps it's the missing... lovely pink I had last year that Dana mentoned in the last post.. it was a favorite of mine also.. so it got special treatment... actually the death knoll around here.. to be given more of this or that in hopes of spurring it on... I also have a tiny sprout [ so it's not counted n the total ] from Edulis seeds I got from New Zealand.. actually from a tastey passon fruit grown comercially there.. and bought here as fruit in the market.. I'm looking foward to trying a few new types next year though.. the more I explore them.. the more I understand how little I know of all the particularly wonderfully beautiful flowers possible with this plant..
