Curly little chicky toes

Rutledge, TN

Okay, Chicken aficionados, tell me if you will.... I have a little newly hatched chick whos little feet are curled under and she can't stand up because of it. I have never taken care of a chick, I always let the mama hen do the job, but this one was abandoned in the nest. So is this normal doin's or do I have a disfigured baby here?

Someone on here made little flip-flops for a chick with deformed feet. I don't remember the thread but somebody will. Anyway the chick's feet were corrected and it could walk normally.

There were lots of hits, but this one had such a cute (and explanatory) picture :)

Thank you all. I have been trying the little snow shoes, but they just don't stay on. I read of someone who superglued the little feet to the cardboard, but that seems a bit drastic.

I use bandaid tape... it's soooo hard to fashion shoes.. but if you can get it done, your chick has a good chance of being able to walk.

I laid a piece down, put the chicks toes on it, then put the top over it and press down in between the toes to get it to stick. The paper tape is the easiest to remove.

Good luck!
