So very pretty!

Thanks Kell, yes they're a fine sight in full bloom. Don't look so good once flowers have faded...for some reason the dead flowers remain firmly attached to the fruit for ages, if you try pulling them off it can tear the body of the plant.

It doesn't look like it s making seed pods either, does it?

Hi ! That's a beautiful plant !...The blooms are so big and colorful; Couldn't one take a long-bladed...maybe for sewing (or surgical ?)...scissors and just snip off those raggely petals ?

Thanks, I did actually snip them off eventually, it does form fruits but they are very small. I'll have to repot it next year, as its clumping rapidly, as Rebutia tend to.

Greetings DMersh: What a gorgeous cactus plant you've got! Would you know if this particular cactus plant has blooms of other colors than orange? In 2010, I had taken photos of 2 of my neighbor's cactus plants that had very pretty blooms on them ~~ one had lavender colored blooms and the other one had bright, persimmon colored blooms. I'll post both of them in the "I.D." area in a bit. Maybe they might have the same name as this plant or another name.

You're right, the plant's blooms do look bad once they've died off. I bet your plant will look very pretty during the next time it blooms.

Thanks Fleur, I think this particular species only produces orange flowers but other Rebutias have diffferent colour flowers, red, yellow, pinkish or white.
Difficult to say what your other species are without seeing a picture.

Hi Dave!

I'll go ahead and post the "persimmon" colored bloom first with this post and then another one with the lavender colored bloom. I only focused primarily on the bloom itself, not on the plant body. Maybe you can tell me what you think. I'm trying to find the area for "plant I.D." but not having much luck.

This post has the "persimmon" colored bloom.

Jennie

These look like Echinopsis flowers but might be tricky to narrow it to an individual plant as there's a great many hybrids and cultivars. If you want to get a cactus identified the best way is to post a new thread on the cacti/succulents forum, titled 'ID request', there are numerous people far more knowldegeable than me on there!
