It is finally raining! We have had no rain, other than a light sprinkle that lasted about a minute or two, since January. It is raining , raining, raining, for a couple of hours now. What a relief, there have been so many wildfires in the area and one that was a mile from my nieces house. I'm sure allt he firefighteres are doing a happy dance right now.

luckie ladies. I am still begging for a good drenching. We got some 1 1/2" a month ago hard and fast in about 15 minutes which put a little water back in my bone dry pond. It is back to a small slushy mud puddle again. Been lots of rain around but has missed me so far. Got lots thunder and a little lightening last night but not a drop. Crossing my fingers today will be the day

It is still raining! Hasn't stopped since about 6 this morning. Right now it's a slow rain which is good.
Know what you mean about the pond Donna. The pond here was partially dry in one area. It's a fairly good sized pond and one part was bone dry, you could walk through it, it will take a lot of rain to fill it up again. The other part of the pond, which is deeper, was several feet low. I don't know if I've ever seen it this dry here. Trees were turning brown and dying even on the banks of the river and it still had some water in it. Just scarey.
I`m so happy for you guys that need rain,it has rained so much here that there are parts of my lawn I can`t mow because its to wet and I sink.I have never seen the ground so wet NEVER! It rains every weekend and we have had so many thunder storms and a couple tornados,unheard of here in northeren Maine.Really queer weather.Today was nice its 72 and I even layed out by the pool for a little while to get some sun.
It stopped raining here about two hours ago, started about 8:30AM. There is still more rain west of us so I hope it comes this way. It will take a lot to make up for the months of drought. Our two stock tanks were completely dry. I haven't checked them since the rain, but one has a lot of acreage draining into it so I hope it will be partly filled. The other - probably not. The Brazos River runs down the west edge of our property and it has been very low all year. The trees right on the edge look good, but farther up the banks trees are dying here too. It will take a couple of days, but I expect the river will rise noticeably as there was a lot more rain north of us.
The grass is dead and dry here, and there were more fires around Amarillo last week. The newspaper said that half the people that lost their houses did not have insurance.
The forecast today said 30% possibility of rain. So far have not seen any. Will be on the lookout for it.

It stopped here about 2:00 but there is still a chance tonight and tomorrow. It will take a LOT of rain to fill the pond here too and we need more for the trees to recover. I just hope after all the stress on the trees from the drought that a hurricame doesn't develop in a few months and blow them all away.
still not one drop. It is staying just a few miles north of me. If it would come more east than north I would get some good rain
I know the feeling Donna, a month or so ago there was rain in the area, but it would break up and disappear before it got to us. It rained north of us, east of us, and west of us and even some south but we would never get any. Frustrating indeed.
dang I didn't get enough to even register in the rain gauge late last night. still looking gloomy today but put the water sprinkle on the wildflower bed anyway. It is bone dry and wilting
