A week ago I noticed that several shoots of my Lespedeza bush had been broken off. I countered by wrapping a 24" tall band of chicken wire around it. This morning I happened to be looking out the kitchen window and saw another shoot just falling. Sneaking out the door and creeping up on his blind side I surprised the culprit, an adult rabbit, standing on his hind legs and calmly chewing another shoot. He froze, about four feet away from me, so I lectured him severely about his destructive habits. I wouldn't have been mad if he had eaten the darn things, but evidently he just liked chewing them down. Finally I shooed him away and he took off like a...a rabbit.
Muttering to myself I wrapped another two feet of chicken wire around the plant. Anyone know any other rodent deterrents?

You can find it at any ACE Store. Probably Agway.
Do a search for 'Rabbit deterrent' instead of rodent, rodents have different diets and physiology, etc, etc.
A deterrent specifically designed toward deterring rabbits would probably be more effective than a wide spectrum deterrent..
Maybe he won't come back....I hate to see anything happen to them, but I know they can be destructive....
Liquid fence, Irish Spring soap, garlic, cayenne pepper ...rotate the use of them
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to find the rabbit repellant. A local nursery did not have any.
