Each spring, I see thousands of tiny (pin head size) red "spiders" on my patio and plant pots. I have found they are NOT red spider mites, but red clover mites. Raid insect spray does not kill them, mite spray has not killed them either. This year I got a spray bottle and put pure rubbing alcohol and 2 t.of dish liquid and sprayed them. That worked! I have not sprayed any plants and I am sure they will end up there - but at least it kills them before they get to my plants.
