Storm damage

Clifton, VA(Zone 7a)

We've had some heavy thunderstorms and hail this year (but thankfully, no tornadoes like some of you have experienced). After a heavy rain the other night, I awoke to find a bunch of damaged plants in my garden, some of which I had just planted the day before. It's heartbreaking to spend so much time tending your garden, only to have things torn up by mother nature.

Most of the sunflowers in this planter were knocked down. Fortunately, only one was broken, and I was able to save the others by staking them up.

I planted this container with lettuce, and the two pots behind with Mizuna mustard the day before the storm. I don't expect them to recover.

The storm knocked over a few pepper plants and one tomato plant, but I staked them up and they seem to be recovering nicely.

How are your gardens weathering the storms this year?

I feel your pain, VitaVeggieMan - Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress at times :(

We had some pea-sized hail last week. There were numerous small holes in the melons' leaves, but nothing major.
