I'm pretty sure it's a Great Kiskadee. It's not common here, but they have been seen here before, and what else could it be? I saw it at Sheldon Lake where a rather thick forest meets the water. I thought I should check with the experts before I tell people I saw it. So experts, please chime in -- Great Kiskadee?

yes great find of a rare bird for your area. They may want picture proof too
Yep, nice one!

Thanks Donna and Resin. Ebird didn't ask for proof. ABA rated a 2, and I think they only verify 3 and higher. Still, may be fairly common in the southern tip of TX, but not that often seen here, so I was excited to see it. I shared where I saw it, but Sheldon Lake is a big place and full of habitat that this bird would like, so he could be anywhere! I can't believe how lucky I was. My pictures are not that good, but I got a good eyeball of him in the sun and as he flew over me. He was stunning and very loud!
