Just got my FIRST passie! P. citrina

My VERY FIRST passie arrived yesterday from Zone 9 Tropicals. Have to say I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Its a citrina. Its 22" long, and 5 buds! It, along with the Aristolochia fimbriata I also ordered were in perfect condition. You'd never know they'd been in a box for 3 days. Not a bit of wilting. I will be growing it exclusively indoors, in a west window, with daily misting and a pebble tray. Will the buds bloom for me? I'm assuming I'll lose them due to the stress of shipping. So trying hard not to expect them to open.

Are you going to use artificial lights? That would produce better results.

It blasted the buds it came with, which didn't surprise me at all, but developed two more, and viola! Today they opened! I'm so glad I got a couple of pics, as they only lasted one day. Flicker, I really don't need artificial lights here in the SoCal high desert. There is plenty of sunlight in my window, and almost all my blooming plants bloom regularly for me in a West window. Here's a pic (not the greatest, but my camera didn't pick up the flower's detail) of one of the blooms. Its 1.5" wide. Too cute!

My west wall is covered by the porch roof. I have large windows but each one has an awnning. I am so used to having to use artificial lights indoors that I assume everyone does.
