I had asked a friend that I had met at a chicken swap if she would hatch out some lavender orpington eggs for me if I ordered some off ebay and she said she would let me use her incubator.SO! I am am bidding on two different batches one has 12 and the other 16 eggs, bidding will end in 3 days. She has eggs in it right now but will bring it up in a few days.I have never used a incubator before so am a little nervous, really wanted one of my orpingtons to go broody but I gurees thats not going to happen anytime soon.Maybe by the time they hatch one will have been broody and I can put them under her in the night like last year, that works so much better as they are already intergrated into the flock.Hope I don`t get the wants for a incubator after this,I have to keep telling myself that I don`t need one.
I am so excited!!
Another one bites the dust.. :)
ROFL!!!!!! ! hatch and your hooked. Run girl run!!!!!
Yup, another lost soul...
Shaking head, just shaking my head. And I had so much faith in her...LOL...At what point did she go astray...
Green, pay no attention to them! There is NOTHING wrong with hatching eggs nonstop. I just had 18 hatching eggs delivered this morning. It's normal, I tell you, NORMAL, to want to hatch all the time! The hum of the incubator is so soothing too...
Best of luck and keep ordering hatching eggs. You can stop any time you want with no problems.
Pfffffft!!! It's moments like these I need a depends! Yeah RIGHT... Annie! I'm sure you believe that... that's what is making me laugh so hard!
Geeze, you have no faith LOL! I'm absolutely, positively sure that Green and I could stop if we wanted to, at the snap of a finger, and never hatch eggs again. No whining, kicking or screaming... just peacefully stop. We're just don't want to, yet.... We're just trying to help the chicken population, one egg at a time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
You guys are so funny.LOL
I have lots of faith in you Annie. I know you can stop when ever you want to, just like you stoped smoking. You did stop didn't you...Hay
Well, we are doing a service by keeping chickens going. :) Look how many breeds are now permanently gone from the earth. People should not have let that happen. Very sad.
Ouch!
I'm horrible ZZ's, I just love Annie, but I could not help myself...Truly I was just having fun...I trust Annie will give me a pass on this...OUCH...Hay
Ok, that did sting, but just for a second. Of course I quit - daily - it's a struggle. I don't intend to stop trying.... just like your dance classes... I will do this. And, I love you too darlin', I know you were just busting my chops because you care about your chicken obsessed hatching fool friends here.
Annie, you have no real idea how much you are loved. It was once said of Abraham Lincoln, he was the one American President that failed his way to success. Therefore says the Bumble Bee (me) to the Honey Bee (you) I may sting, but your as sweet as they come...And the truth bee known...I will always be very proud of you...Haystack
Success is on it's way darling

Thanks my Friend, that really meant a lot to me. So, when I'm really and truly smoke free will you give me some dance lessons? If so, you'd better wear combat boots, I'm not very graceful LOL
Annie, I'm proud of you too. I know it isn't easy, but like grief, each day the pain eases up a bit.
Thanks LFJ :-)
Oh boy is it ever storming, there are lightening warnings, the sirens went off, and it's raining hard. Hope the electricity stays on, the incubator is full.
I won 12 black/blue splash orpington eggs on ebay last night, really wanted the lavenders but was to expensive for me.This will my first time hatching with an incubator so thought I should start a little cheaper.I like the looks of these birds.
Congrat!!! And good luck to you on the hatching of your newly won eggs...This is an exciting time for you my dear and we will be watching with great anticipation...Hay
Eggs came today one was broke.Letting them sit and will put them in latter on tonight Also have 12 polsih crested to hatch for the lady that is letting me use her incubator.I won 12 and the lady sent me 18,blues and splashes,OH I hope they all hatch but I know they won`t.The bator has been running for a day and a half, has a fan in it,stays pretty good a degree one way or the other.
That is perfect Green, Of course they will all hatch, why not??? Green I once hatched a cracked egg. At first I thought it was dirt, and then when I discovered I could not wash it of, I realized it was a hairline crack. I put some new skin on it just for fun and it hatched. The joke was on me...LOL...Hay
There was one that was cracked so it went in the garbadge. The eggs keep rolling because the wire tray does not lay flat, can I put some of that non skid stuff like you put under rugs in there to keep them from rolling?
Go Green Go Green....
Green are you not using an egg turner? If not put your eggs in an egg carton after cutting little holes in the bottom. Cut the top cover off and then just tilt the entire egg carton every three hours in place of turning them...Ask Cajun and she will send you a pic of how she does it...Hay
