What's wrong with this bloom??? it just looks. . . bad. and so sad!!!
Pink Perfektion FIRST BLOOM
really? No one has anything to say about my poor pitiful blooms? I haven't had a bloom since the second picture...
Which brugmansia is this and is this it's first blooms of the season?
I remember reading that Pink Perfektion's flaw was producing many distorted flowers. Salmon Perfektion supposedly does not. I have Salmon Perfektion, but decided to pass on Pink Perfektion. Having said that about Pink Perfektion, sometimes the first blooms of the season can do some strange things. I've had some Brugs produce shredded flowers, distorted ones and singles instead of doubles. As the plant matures and gets larger you get better looking flowers assuming there are no genetic problems in the first place.
This is a photo of Citrine, usually a perfectly normal looking single yellow. All the flowers in her first flush, the first season I had her, were shredded. Later flushes were normal.
Thanks bettydee ... Was getting scared maybe I had a bad plant of some sort.. PINK perfektion is pretty when it blooms right..
I won't give. Up on it !
Thanks
Nothing is wrong with your PP- it does not like the heat. My blossoms look like that too. We have had hot weather since May. When your PP blooms in cooler weather, these will be the blossoms you expected (photo)- they are lovely and have an almost hot pink double/triple blossom. My Pink Perfektion has done this every year for the 4 years I have had it. It blooms about 4-5 times in a season, with good sized flushes, a reason to keep it.
Last year, in June, mine bloomed beautifully. Later, the hot weather blooms were ugly. Fall blossoms were again pretty. So, just hang in there! It'll happen!
Photo from June 2010.
IMO this plant should never have been registered.
I got one in trade about 6 or 7 yrs ago and it ended up in the compost pile.
Never seen such a mess of ugly unruly flowers on any brug.
Good luck with yours tho.
Thanks for all the input...I will keep ya posted if & when it ever blooms.
