I started the sprinklers on the front lawn this evening .. been going for 90 minutes now .. I just walked out in my bare feet and the water is pooling on the surface! The ground is so dry below the grass it's not sinking in! Guess I'll be poking holes in the lawn tomorrow with the pitch fork.
Ground is so dry it won't take water!
Have exactly the same problem, especially my raised garden beds. Spent all morning yesterday poking holes with a screwdriver then flooding the beds. Those beds used to be lush, good topsoil and compost- now they are like dust. If we don' t get rain soon!!!
I'm going to water the back yard tonight but I'll certainly be poking holes in it first.
My hydrangeas keep drooping, no matter how much I water them. Hate to just run the water slowly all night, but I might have to.
