I do believe summer has arrived ...advice needed

Grapeland, TX

103 in the shade at my house yesterday.....I think that gives us 5 or 6 days already at our house for temps to have reached triple digits already...and today and tomorrow is supposed to be that too. my question is....I bought a few perennials while out and about in the hill country...a couple of coneflowers...some phlox...some salvias....should I go ahead and get them in the ground or set them out in their pots where I plan to put them for a few days to let them acclimate to that area. I don't usually plant stuff this late...I try to get my stuff in ground earlier...just didn't work out that way for our getaway this time. thanks in advance for advice given.

I hear ya!! It's been hot here as well! I would go ahead and plant them, but water them well at planting time and keep them well watered for about 2 weeks. In the heat, you might need to water them once in the morning and then again in the evening. Be sure to mulch them as well.

I planted some stuff yesterday in the shade, and about died! LOL
