Been waiting on this one to bloom well worth the wait
Gail
Beautiful! I just ordered this one earlier today...seeing your pics makes me even more excited!
This one grows and grows I bought this last fall taken this long to flower but like I said well worth it
Is it a very large vine? I have very limited space, and will most likely keep it in a pot.
Nice one!!!! Do you know what the parentage is?
No she came from Florida close to me passiflorist on ebay. Its different than any other I have had as far as blooming and buds. It has only bloomed once most give a series of buds not this one. Grows like crazy I have held the fert. back so it would bloom.
According to their website, "It is a hybrid of P. 'Pura Vida purple' and P. amethystina 'Minas Gerais' and it is a sister to P. "Pamela Jean'"
Dana, is yours in the ground or in a pot? I'm going to have to put it in a pot due to space limitations.
Ground been there since Febuary .
Ah, I see. I'll be curious to see how it does in a pot.
I also found this in the description: "So far for us, P. 'Gail' is proving to be a short day plant, blooming in abundance daily, fall through spring. In the north it will probably bloom in the summer." I wonder if it will become a heavier bloomer for you later in the season?
Sunny glad for you mines stubborn! lol just the one flower and its growing like crazy. Next year it should do better I bought it from ebay came in a little 2x2 inch pot . So I guess it needs to grow for a while
Mine came in the tiny pot as well, and I potted it up in a large pot upon its arrival. It sounds like yours is busy putting down roots, stretching out, and making itself at home ;-). Also, according to the grower, 'Gail' primarily blooms for them fall through spring. I believe the grower is also in FL, so you are possibly experiencing a similar phenomenon. I do have a couple more buds on my plant, but while I am in zone 9b, my climate is much different than yours. I'm not sure where yours is planted, but I also have my plant in the shade for the time being, so it's not getting much of our blasting hot sunshine either. Perhaps these factors are contributing to the bloom/no bloom issue? Honestly, these are just guesses on my part. However, I'm guessing that come fall you'll get a nice show :-). I hope you'll post pics when it happens!
That might be the deal mines in the sun most of the day. It gets watered once a day sometimes twice. Usually i run these up trees get them out of the way so there not choking everybody else lol. But this ones so pretty I built a spot for it. Lady Margaret is on the other side blooming away. You bought yours from same place I got mine. I just received seeds for the verigated bat wing passey hope I get a couple from these seeds these are neat vines. Mines planted in the ground to when It decides to flower I will post the pic's ..Dana
Most of the passi's growing in hotter zones will take off blooming again more towards fall as we get in "short day" cycles, night time temps are high right now as well, which also suppresses blooming.
Growing like crazy! Lady Margaret putting out buds like crazy All the others are doing great except this ones, energizer keeps growing and growing lol
Dana,
Incense does same, blooms like crazy in the middle of summer, while others languish. I think parentage has alot to do with it. But isn't it great when you get one that goes against the "system"?
Enjoy, and am glad to see you getting such beautiful blooms !
Thanks! I think all the rain we had helped I water quite a bit but when its this hot and have so much to water its hard
Very nice Dana! Mine has stopped blooming and has gone on a major growth spurt...
I haven't fed it yet, but given its relatively small size and the fact that it's newly potted up, I think I'll let it be for now....if I don't get blooms later on in the season I'll see if feeding helps. Thanks for the tip!
