I'm wondering what fertilizer I should specially order and what company/brands anyone can suggest. I have over several varieties of citrus that I'm growing in containers. Also, any thoughts on soil mixes for growing citrus in containers?
fertilizer for container grown citrus
You can just buy a citrus fertilizer from a big box store. The only difference is citrus fertilizer has trace minerals in it as opposed to just using 10-10-10 all purpose. I just looked at where you lived and it's doubtful there is much demand for citrus fertilizer where you are.
I have seen some good reviews on Espoma Citrus Tone fertilizer. It was designed with a balance of nutrients from natural sources to supply all the needs of citrus and avocado, and is recommended for a number of other fruits as well because of the minor nutrients and micronutrients it supplies.
Espoma uses a lot of organics balanced for a number of different situations. I've used their Holly Tone (formulated for acid-lovers) on my new blueberrry plantings with no problems. I haven't had enough experience with either of them yet to give a personal review, but they apparently won't damage the roots if used according to directions (and common sense), something the chemical formulations can't promise.
