I am thinking it is a Ferruginous Juvy??
I need help on ID of bird
Wow, DaneaJ, that's one impressive looking bird!. Hope someone will be able to I.D. it soon for you.
Where was the location where the bird's pix was taken? That may help other to identify your bird.
Baytown , Tx. Gulf coast
Sure looks like the one listed in my bird book under Ferruginous Hawk, and in that area. We also have a Bird ID forum.

Thanks
Red-tailed Hawk, immature, for me; the markings on the underwing fit that better, as does the habitat (in a tree in suburbia - Ferruginous Hawk is an open plains and deserts bird).
Resin
Wow, a super looking bird, whatever it is. Nice pics.
