Seems to me that my two Forsythia bushes should have bloomed by now, but all I'm seeing is what appears to be new growth of the branches and some nubs that look like they want to be buds...no flowers at all. Isn't it getting a tad late for the plants to bloom here in the N.W.?
Forsythia not blooming!
Ours bloomed several weeks ago and now have leafed out. We are zone 8b.
They should have bloomed in March. It may be that you didn't get blooms this year due to the lack of sun this spring. They generally leaf out AFTER they have bloomed.
Forsythia are sun lovers. Mine doesn't get enough sun. It's green and healthy-looking, but I don't generally get many blossoms. Mine has already bloomed.
I'm north of Katie59 and mine are all done as well, they bloomed very well in fact. No clue why.
They also like to be pruned in the spring after flowering. So do it now if at all.
