Agree, nice shot and I love the hot colors!
Beautiful!! Definitely a great shot!
Thanks to all for the honor of having this photo selected as today's "Bloom of the Day. This one of my favorite photos--not because of any artistic merit--but because it's a picture one of the most remarkable flowering trees I have ever just "happened" upon.
This tree now has some additional history of its own since I first saw it last Fall. A few people have contacted me since I posted this photo on the Brugmansia forum, including a past ICRA Registrar for Brugmansia, who wanted to know if I knew the location of this tree. I've been able to answer that specifically as this tree (though much younger) is inconspicuously in a picture on the home page of a restaurant in Mendocino:
Cafe Beaujolais 961 Ukiah Street Mendocino, CA 95460 (707) 937-5614

A DG Admin, Kell, asked me the reverse question, i.e. is my photo taken of this particular tree? I learned from the past ICRA Brug. Registrar, who has since visited "the Tree", that it is most likely the relatively rare cultivar, Brug. sanguinea 'Inca Queen' and moreover that it may have a small amount of Brug. vulcanicola in it's background. [If so, that would technically make it a Brug. Vulsa.]
I'm still trying to acquire a rooted cutting of this cultivar.

I knew exactly what tree it was Allan when I first saw your photo because I visit this tree every time I am in Mendocino. And I just happened to go again last week! It is always in bloom every time I go! I have seen 2 other sangs in Mendo but this is the only all red one I have found. I am so fond of it! Great photo BTW!
PS Who is the past ICRA Registrar for Brugmansia?

Thanks Kell for the photo of THE tree! [lol]. I'm planning to make my next pilgrimage this summer. The past Registrar is on DG as "grrrnthumb".
