Does anyone else have these grasshoppers?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I have killed over 300 of them this year. The only way I have found to kill them is to step on them. Most were only 1/4 inch long. Now they are almost 2 inches. I have been fighting them for around 10 yrs. I am still finding a few. I sure hope no eggs were laid for next year.

Once they are this size or bigger they are gross to step on. But gross or not they must DIE!!!!

Ugh! You need more birds. We have so many wonderful birds on our place, we're getting worried there won't be enough bugs and hoppers for them to eat. LOL.

Found out what they are Devil Horse, Southeastern Lubber (Romalea guttata), http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/238/. I read on the internet they are poison which I figured because of the red. Any animal or bird that eats them becomes very ill.

I will continue to step on them till I am free of them...Yeah right every year a few must get away and mate. I read on another thread they use to be used for cough syrup. Haven't found it ou the net. Ewwwww

You need to put your area code on that DG bugfile link, there is only one other place in TX that is posted. Bad guy looks like.
