My carrots are coming up and some have left the row I planted them in.
I was thinning the today and found one a foot out of the row, by it's self.
I know you will say the wind or rain moved the seed around, but 99% of the row is too straight for that.
Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ^^_^^
From Frankfort you have the old man Dwight here.

Do your Carrot seed have feet???....mind do
All carrots have feet but few leave home. It must be adventuring off to find itself. You might choose to cut it off from the bonds of carrot nurture or consider your carrot a creative soul that had to strike off. I get ridiculous about leaving veggies where they land to the point where I'll create new routes around the garden. Guess I like to foster creativity. :>)

rentman - did any of your carrots go to seed last year? If so, that might be why you have carrots growing in unexpected places.
I let some go to seed last year so the bees could enjoy the blossoms. Now I have carrots growing in the pathways. If I had tried to grow carrots in hard, red, Carolina clay they would not have grown! Evidently these carrots don't know that, so they are growing anyway! LOL
There's Queen Ann Lace growing down the road......
I have a hard time growing them in the grown here also, but they do well in 'window boxes'.
I use loose soil and can keep the watered well.
