I know that's a lot of ????? but hear me out *smile*
When I lived in Benbrook about six years ago, my neighbor and I both gardened. Our yards backed up to a rather wild overgrown area that the city was supposed to take care of. Every year though, we'd see this HUGE vine creeping up from the ravine toward our yards. I had a big cedar fence, but she had chain link, so it would come into her yard. Admittedly it was striking because the leaves were enormous! We didn't know what it was until we saw some sort of squash or cucumber or ??? fruit on it. I don't have any pictures to share, unfortunately, but... don't laugh....
If you know what I'm trying to describe, can you please help me? I'd actually like to try to locate it, if possible. And I guess knowing what it is, if it's edible, etc. would have its benefits *grin*
Huge Texas Native (?) "wild" (?) squash (?)
Might it have been a cushaw?
hmmm no, I don't think so, Cajun. I don't really remember the fruit at all. We were both just struck by the size of the leaves. They were big as dinner plates.
I'm stumped.
