If you was to put a new tree in your backyard and you only could put one there which tree would you more than likely put there? This tree would be one that would draw birds to your backyard.
Which Tree brings the birds
Different trees attract birds for different reasons but if I could pick one it would probably be a Crabapple (Malus) or a Serviceberry.

How important is the Washington Hawthorn to the birds?
I was always told that birds love this tree. Is this true or false?
I don't have that tree but the fact that it has fall/winter berries would be a big draw along with the fact that it would give good cover once it's more mature. It of course has long thorns.
Lilyfantn has a nice shots of hers here in this thread. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/682674/
