Wow, so it has been hitting 90+ lately and I was wondering how is everyone's plants doing? My tomatoes are a bit wilted and we have been watering like crazy to keep them hydrated. I hope it doesn't last to long.
90+ heat wave!
The oppressive heat and humidity should be over by late September;-)
Thanks! LOL
At least you guys have some humidity. Has not rained here since April and not much then. Humidity hovering arround 20%. 98 today, expected to warm up toward the middle of the week.
No rain here either for many weeks and actually the humidity was very low until yesterday morning when it almost appeared to have rained, the condensation was so heavy everything was wet, but it was short lived, today it was dry again. The soil is like dust right now.
My pond has dropped a few inches in the last couple of weeks, with the water table so high around here that's a bad sign. Means the soil is really drying out. One thing I can't figure out is why my plum trees look happy as can be?? Anyone know if plums have a long tap root?? It's like the trees have made it to the water table. The leaves are deep green and the trees are putting on size this spring, healthiest I have seen them. Fairly young trees BTW.
That was a surprise nice mild temps not much humidity and then bam, 90+ temps with a haze in the air.
90's here lately....with 100% humidity in the mornings. The garden is finding it challenging, with the heat, midday sun, and heavy clay soil. Potatoes don't like it, tomatoes see to be ok...squashes and cukes wilt in the afternoon, only to perk back up overnight. Some of my herbs aren't liking the heat either. I am glad I planted some of them early enough to have rooted themselves deep enough to stay in there and not die.
It has been raining all around us but not on us. WE need rain bad.
And we may be seeing smoke again soon as the wind has shifted on the outter banks and its comming our way

I already having to water some plants twice a day and the lawn looks really parched. Suppose to get a break this weekend.
Can you hear my grass crackle crackle.
Raleigh got rain, snakes are hunting water now.Ugh
The coast where I am needs rain bad.
Saturday - a break in the heat, down to mid 80's, and in the afternoon a terrific downpour which lasted about 30 minutes. Grass and Garden immediately perked up!
Just a trace of rain here and a few degrees cooler.
