Is this a cowbird?

Clifton, NJ

Comes to my feeders often but eats only from the ground. Then he'll perch on a branch and sing for about a half hour.

That looks to me like an Eastern Towhee. I love those birds. They enjoy birdbath that I set up in the garden. They seem to be very shy however. The minute they spot my movement they will fly away.

Thanks for the I.D. I have about 5-6 different kinds of birds coming in my yard that i'v never seen before. When i get a decent picture of them i'll post them. Thanks again.

For your information, here are pictures of a male (on the left) and female cowbird. Be thankful if you don't have them. They are a pest. To my knowledge they do not sing.
