Am watching a friend's garden for signs of her perennial hibiscus. So far, no go! We have had a very rainy Spring and some things are late to show life. But by now everything seems to be leafing out.
At what point should I give up. When the plant shows signs of life I want to transplant it.
We are in zone 5. Thanks for your help.
Transplanting Perennial Hibiscus
You can transplant it right now. It will show life when it is good and ready to do so...and that may be late in July.

Hardy hibiscus are notorious for being super slow to get going in the spring so it's definitely too early to give up on it.
I agree. I have several and they just started growing about 3 weeks ago and our spring temps start far earlier than yours.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I'll keep an eye on the stalks from last year and hopefully see some sign of life soon.
