Northern Flicker interaction

A male Northern Red-shafted Flicker in an apple tree just across the creek.

He's joined by a female.

She begins to look agitated.

Don't you think she looks a bit angry?

Here's the reason.

I don't often get to observe their behavior towards one another. They usually disappear if I am in sight.

He's checking out the second female, and the first isn't happy about that.

And she departs.

Ah, my pretty!

Is the coast clear now?

Oh, she left him too!
