Two of my huge knockout rose bushes have rose rosette disease. I'm going to find large garbage bags tomorrow to dispose of them. I REALLY hope that my other roses don't get infected. I'm too afraid to replace the infected roses with new ones, so I'll need to make a new plan for that bed. Ugggh. I feel so sick about it. I love my roses, and think that there is nothing like them in a cottage garden. Back to the drawing board.
So sad . . . rose rosette disease has struck!
Now that's one on me..never heard of rose rosette disease. You think it's from all the rain this Spring. I have heard and experienced black spot and aphids before. Have a picture of your roses with this problem. I thought knock outs were supposed to be disease resistant.
Actually, now I'm not sure that my rose has it - I posted pics on the rose forum, and am hoping to get some feedback soon before ripping out my roses. But the symptoms are red canes with more than normal thorns with twisted leaves. It's a virus that is spread from mites. Once your rose has it, you have to dig it up, bag it, and put it in the trash. It's highly contagious, so you want to catch it as soon as possible before it infects your other roses. It's a huge problem. There have been many rose gardens completely wiped out because of this disease. As far as we know there is no rose that is immune to it.
Here's a little info.

The rose forum thinks that what I'm seeing is just new growth. Phew. I'm a little paranoid.
I know what you mean. Early this morning..after 5 or 5:30 am, I took a walk around my flowerbeds and I noticed the beginnings of black spot on the leaves of the minature rose bush and I'm assuming it might be because of so much rain so I'l get onto spraying it this morning. My coral color rose has started to bloom and that is a beauty.Wished I knew what the name of it is..inherited it with the house 6 yrs. ago from previous owners and they are now deceased so can't ask them. I'll just enjoy it and take care of it as best as I can for the rest of its life. Roses are among my favorite flowers.
