I can't identify these baby ducks! Please Help!

Warsaw, IN

I have two little babies ducklings whose mother was killed by a train. We wanted to figure out what they are. I have done tons of research, but can't seem to find any that look like them. They look similar to the Mallard, Black American, and the Black swedish. Yet, they are different then each of those. I don't have apicture at the moment due to the fact I can't find my camera. Once I do I will post a picture of them. For now I will just describe them as best as possible.

They have black/very very dark brown heads with just a small yellow stripe across their eyes. Their entire neck (accept for a small ring down by their shoulders) and back and wings are all black/ very very dark brown. their chest is white then fades into yellow as its goes up and around their neck close to their shoulders. Imagine a Black Swedish duckling then add the yellow strip across the eyes and the yellow going up and across the back of the neck and shoulders (kinda like how a collie or sheltie has their white ruff around the neck). They don't have any white or yellow anywhere else. We thought that maybe they were Mallards, but Mallards have a lot more yellow. Including their heads being mostly yellow with a brown stripe across their eyes. These ducklings are opposite. I will try to post a picture asap!

Meg,

You may still have a domestic type mallard. Are they big ducklings? I guess a photo or two may help If they are tiny ducklings, I guess they could be woodies...but I don't believe that I have ever had one with a yellow eye stripe.

Some domestics do not make the best Moms...they are not quite certain what to do with that egg they just dropped on the ground ;o) However, Muscovies are wonderful mothers! These ducklings can have many different markings, some ducklings do not look anything like their siblings...but look about the same as adults.

I just keep going on and on...best to wait for photo.
