I have been watching it put out leaves for a couple of springs now but have not seen any flowers. Anyone have any ideas as to why not? I have a lot of space (25+ acres) and they are making headway against the invasives (e.g. garlic mustard). They are in shade, part shade all over the place but NO flowers. SO frustrating.
Erythronium (dogtooth violet) ... does it not always flower?
This plant only flowers when two leaves are produced. One leaf to a plant - no flower. Even in natural settings with large nmbers of plants, only a small number usually bloom in a given year. I do not know what conditions promote production of two leaves to a plant.
Thanks. That's interesting. I'll start looking at the numbers of leaves.
