I love night pix. You've removed the distractions.

My alliums are not quite open. The membrane has started but was still there as of yesterday on both the drumsticks and giant alliums.

The night pic is really neat!

LOVE your Alliums!

My garden has a new snow covering of 6 inches as of this morning.
This is normal for this area. Spring in Tahoe never arrives - its usually winter till July.

Jmorth, your allium pictures are very artistic and amazing. You've taken them from some interesting angles. The pictures belong in an art gallery ;-)

TPN, snow or not, it's still gorgeous. I've seen Emerald Bay. Unforgettable. Look forward to your pix when they bloom.

Another interesting pic. Are you a contortionist or just a great talent?

Very pretty blooms jmorth. Just how do you get those amazing pictures?

Love the pics! I adore alliums! where do you get your bulbs from?

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Usually John Scheepler (probably where Alliums from) or Brent & Becky

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

These are from last year and before that. Don't they love to put on a show, 100 flowers on a stalk.

I planted the globemasters and gladiators in the spring, and they have leaves that have now grown to about 6 or more inches. Do they need to grow through a really cold season to bloom?

Granted they need a season of cold but really cold ?

My garden is covered with snow again. Another 4 solid heavy inches.
Alliums seem to do alright since the sun melts the snow if we receive higher temps.
But so far the temps are just above freezing.

Hope for some warm weather to come our way.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

What is your altitude TP?

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm looking for the globemasters and gladiators for my mom in Kansas....if anyone has any to share, I'd be ever so grateful!

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

The alliums I should have planted last fall ere globemaster and gladiator. I figured I'd plant them last November while it was still quite warm, but when I got back from traveling on November 8th, the tide had turned, and it had become bitterly cold and windy. The foretelling of a horrible winter!

When I had some help at the end of March, I planted the 7 bulbs , but the did nto come up in the "rosette" like the giant allium. They are definitely growing, but the results are what we would call unpredictable. By next year, they'll probably be fine.

South Lake Tahoe, CA

I'm at 6500 ft.
Gladiator Alliums are about 8" to 12"
Purple Sensation are under 6"
