There's rain on the radar, woohoo

Conroe, TX

and this time we might actually get some! Although we might be in for some severe weather. Someone mentioned hail and the thunderstorms that are approaching look pretty strong, Weather man said some could be without power, which will probably be us, because the electricity seems to go off when one sneezes, lol

We have been in a severe drought in this area with no rain for a long time. The pond is getting to the point it will soon be dry. Ground is so dry it's just dust dust dust. Rain would be nice.

Richmond, TX

YES! It is actually raining here!

Bridgewater, ME

I`m so glad you are getting the rain you need, lets hope its a slow steady rain

(Zone 5b)

YAY for your rain!!! I agree, slow and steady but lots of it!

Conroe, TX

Well, it rained, but not enough. Under trees, if you move the top layer of pine needles, it's still dust dry underneath.
We had two lines of rain coming towards us. We got some of the first one, but the second broke up and we got nothing much out of it. Hopefully we get some more soon.
I've heard it will take a hurricanes worth of rain to catch us up.

Richmond, TX

We didn't get much either, but it was the first since February so it was welcome - and then some!

Conroe, TX

No kidding, anything is better than nothing.

Pelzer, SC(Zone 7b)

I keep hearing on the news and the gardeneing shows around here how wet the spring has been. Not in my yard. Not to compare to Texas, but my poor little pepper plants were just drooping so low I finally gave in and watered. Good thing I did, the promised day long rain lasted about 12 seconds.

Of course, that probably insures that today, the skies will open *G*

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

We are getting blasted with a winter storm right now! Hail and heavy rain! Weird.. I don't think I've ever seen rain like this in May!

Conroe, TX

Crazy isn't it? Some places are going under in water and others are so dry. We have been in a severe drought for some time now. I think they said our last significant amount of rain had been in January. Strange thing is the wind, it has been very windy almost non stop for months, which dries things out even more. I can't ever remember it being as windy as it has for as long as it has been windy. Today was beautiful, clear skies and not too bad temps, and the little rain we did get helped the berries. I picked a good bowl full today.

Richmond, TX

Smedgekles I agree about the wind. I've never known it to be so persistent. It was a lovely day today - low humidity and a crystal clear sky. However our pastures are crispy and dry and the hay supply is dwindling.

Bridgewater, ME

39 degrees here this morning and rain for the next few days.

Tulsa, OK

Tulsa always has alot of wind too, and this spring has been unseasonably dry. Now they're telling us that this year we're going to have a 13-year's "crop" of cicadas coming. They've been mostly dormant for 13 years, and this will be their "coming-out" year. Oh boy, I well remember the noise they make in the evenings, at times becoming so uncomfortably loud a person can't even enjoy being outside doing gardening or yardwork. Maybe this year I'll try earplugs! I think the cicadas make their noise in the trees, so even the chickens can't enjoy them for a snack! Anyone out there have any exerience with cicadas?

Bridgewater, ME

38 degrees cold and rain

Conroe, TX

50 degrees this morning, no rain in the forecast till Friday and then it's only 20 or 30%.

Lazarpl, I don't know what to do about cicadas. We have them here, but not so many that it's deafening. Hope they don't get too bad.
