just checking on those of you who appear to have gotten a lot of hail yesterday and last night - Beach Barbie you ok? My son said it was pretty eery yesterday with the colors in the sky Ardesia and Stono and the rest on coastal ways ok?
Everyone ok after those storms?
Thanks for your concern. Storms? Rain? Can't say for Stono but I would have welcomed some of that water. Bone dry here for way too long. For some reason the weather seems to stay west of highway 17, towards I-95. The sea islands tend to miss it all. .
my eldest lives in Myrtle Beach and when he called to say the sky is a really funky color I grew worried, Branden got home from work and said their weather showed a vortex there so you know how it is when ur a mom - you start worrying :)
sorry you didn't get any rain - we got 1/2 " here (brand new rain gauge Branden brought home for me yesterday - I immediately set it up LOL knowing we were to get rain last night)
I was awakened at 3:30 am this morning by crashing lightning and thunder - it was really violent and lasted about 20 minutes. On a few hits, I never got past 1 when counting so I knew the lighting was grounding somewhere in the neighborhood .. just glad it wasn't on my block! Luckily no damage and about 1/2 inch in rain.
We had golf size hail here in Conway. The northern part of town received baseball size hail which did a lot of damage to cars. This was around 6 PM. Very heavy rain--we estimated 1-2" in a short period of time. At 3 am the following morning, we had strong thunder storms. The hail only lasted 5-10 minutes but our backyard looked like it had snowed.
When I drove to Charleston yesterday I could see puddles along the road and the swampy places were very wet so obviously they have had rain along Hwy 17 down here. Still so terribly dry out here on the islands.
We had (reportedly---I slept through it) horrific thunderstorms, no hail, and only 4/10ths of an inch of rain, which helped a little bit, but not much. Everything seems to stay west of I 95 and north of Mt Pleasant this year.
Storm hit us at 4:15 but no hail thankfully, I do not think I could handle that kind of damage again. Did you have a lot of damage BSD? Was moving fast if it hit X in Summerville at 3:30. Heavy rain over by dawn. Gave everything a good soaking but do wish it had been lighter longer- less run off. Must have blown out to sea if you did not get rain Ardesia.
No, the damage seemed to be more in the northern part of Conway. Hubbie got a few dings on his truck but nothing that can't be fixed. It was really strange how 1/2 mile to the north it was baseball size hail. Two car lots had all of their vehicles damaged. Good time to get a deal on a vehicle if you can have a few dents fixed. Thanks for asking, cornish. We were very lucky.
