EE's to be planted

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

This is the first time that I will be putting my ee's in the ground since we lived in Okinawa. I now live in Texas, zone 8. I want to put them next to the house where they will get full afternoon sun. Most of them are sited there already in their pots. My question is does it need to stay moist and will they do ok in clay or should I amend the soil? Thanks for the help

I would amend the soil and they do like to be moist but not wet. Hope that helps. I think it would be fine to get them in the ground now.

Which "EEs" are you talking about, Colocasia, Alocasia, Xanthosoma? Most Colocasia like to be standing in water. Alocasia and Xanthosoma prefer it wet but not soggy. But there are exceptions within some of those genus. It's good to know which specific one you mean.

I strongly agree with Tropicbreeze.

Tina_A, if you do not know what type of "elephant ear" plants you have, you may want to post some photos in order to give a better response to your question.

I know much of what I have are Colocasia, but I will post pictures soon.
