Purse planters

Kure Beach, NC(Zone 9a)

So, someone on facebook posted a picture of two purses they used as hanging planters. Not to be outdone, I did the same.
Came out right cute I think!
Each has one Osteospernum.

Kure Beach - where I live!
I bought the purses several years ago out the Kure Beach Fishing Pier and yes, I did carry them even though I'm older than eight!

How cute is that- I have one of those from my first trip to the Bahamas. Have no idea what possessed my to buy it. Did you line the purses with anything before planting? Shame it probably won't last but one season.

They are lined with some fairly heavy duty plastic that i cut holes into for drainage.
I was thinking about their "shelf life" and since they still sell these at the pier, I can get more!

I bet if you dunked them in or painted them with water seal they'd last longer

Lol .. I just had an evil thought .. a cousin who goes out of her way to give gifts she KNOWS the recipient doesn't want or can't use gave me a purse .. I'm thinking about planting a cactus in it and giving it back to her for her birthday!

Wow I just gave away a garbage bag full of old pocketbooks wish I had them back. These are neat.

X - you are truly wicked...my kind of wicked LOL...do it! or at the very least - hang it on your back porch...I think she'll get the hint from that alone...

Yeah I'm gonna do it .. if those darn stinky voodoo lilies weren't so big I'd plant one of those .. anyone else know of a smaller plant that stinks to high heaven?

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

googling really quick I find Pluchea odorata lol

Kure Beach, NC(Zone 9a)

That does look good.
There are several small succulents that smell to high heaven when they bloom. Carrion plant and starfish plant are two that I have (or had) and they are quite small. If you want cuttings....just ask!

Barb - those are awesome! I may try it!

X - what a great idea!!! I like the stinky plant thought better than the cactus. ;)
