Some pics of life in my yard today.
skeleton leaf golden eye, a monster (or shrub) that is tough and blooms til a hard frost.
A great spring day in TX
Beautiful Cheryl, I love all of those.
I call this my everything but the kitchen sink bed. It's filled with plants that came on the cheap so to speak. Lots of seedlings from my winter sowing oddity. Transplants from overcrowded other beds. Plants that I overwintered inside under lights and a few from this past RU. I also randomly threw in all my leftover seeds. Now I can't tell one seedling from another! I think I even accidentialy threw in a packet of carots.

Lovely Cheryl, that must be your new bed ans your new pond.
Yes to both. The one issue I have with the new bed is that it will need mulch soon and I don't want to cover up all the little seedlings. I think many of them are annual coreopsis, though there are a good number of other types that might be something I truely want.
Well, i guess you will just have to wait on the mulch.
And, water a lot more unfortunately.
Very nice! How exciting (?) to see what kind of plants spring forth from your seeds!
That's so funny! I did the same thing to a section of my garden. It was already mulched with pine bark nuggets and I had several half-full packs of flower seeds, so just sprinkled them around. I know I have cosmos going but not sure of some of the others. Can anyone ID these? This first is some vine that started growing.
Sorry I don't recognize it.
Looks great Cheryl! Maybe some cotton burr compost can help as a light mulch until the flowers come up.
I haven't seen that but will check it out. The seedlings are up, just tiny.
And cotton burr compost is really good for your soil!
Bariolo~I can't help with your mystery plant either. Maybe if you post it in a separate post or in the plant/tree id forum you'll find an answer.
Cheryl, I love the combination of pink skullcap and wine cups together. Good combo choice.
Lovely pictures Cheryl. You could end up loving the surprise bed more than any other! As for the carrots, they are a host of the Black Swallowtail just like parsley, fennel and dill; so that is a good thing! LOL!
Those are all sooo pretty! Thanks for sharing.
Well then Sheila I won't pull them up. Thanks for the kind words and I like this bed of odds and ends already. Each plant in there sort of has a story. I know each one of them better than most of my other plants.
It is one you will check for new growth and blooms, etc. Where the beds you know where everything is and what it looks like don't get your attention as much! Post a picture in mid June for us to compare.
LOVE the Skeleon Leaf GoldenEye! I'd love to have that in my flowerbeds but don't currently have the space.

Love the kitchen sink bed.... Made me smile!
Since it appears to be the only one, it is probably not something you threw in there, it does look familiar, tho I can't say where I've seen those leaves before.
skeleton is a great plant, all it needs is good drainage and it is happy.
Thanks Stephanie, I'll try an ID forum. And I got some cotton burr compost from Cornelius here in Houston. The guy said it was great for the soil. I think yall have Calloway's around the Dallas area. They might have it.
My first cosmos bloomed yesterday! It's growing with Silver Mound Lantana, because that's where that seed landed. :)
