Well... it hasn't started here yet... but we're working up to the end of the begining..
this is the cool room today..I was up on the roof all day today.. had to tie off the wind chimes.. as it was always gusting up to 30-40 mph.. as soon as I came down out of it ...and sat in the warm chair...I was asleep..
The 2011 Garden Experience
Obama flew by today ...to see the breadown of the cool room
he went on to a planting of the Survivor Tree... they had sad a pear tree on the news.. and showed what looked like it might have been a bradford pear... hardly a pear... .. but one tore up n the attack.. and was regrown.. repaired and replanted in the ceremony today
I'm here to watch the 2011 Roof Top Tropical Garden Show!!!! Bring on the pictures, I have alllllllllll summer!
Joelle
Nice looking Passeys. They'll take over the world here in San Diego County. I'm always needing to trim them back.
That is going to be a beautiful roof again!!!
Dana,, you will have lots of beautiful Frittilaries. Passion vine can be invasive, I just dig and move them to where I want them.
YES... Getting planted here.. between mothers and my roof brugs.. they are about all in... planted with 1/4 Ton of cow manure.. that should kick them into gear..
lasat year posted a picture of a couple of brugs.. overwintered... unmulched here in NYC growng on a roof top maybe 160 ft in the air... on the roof of the Chelsea Hotel .. well last winter was hard... lots of snow all wnter long.. and one didn't make it.. although.. the success.. is one did... overwintered... outside.. this s what t'd looig like now... not as bg as some I've brought in .. but having sprouted out from the roots.. outside.. it looks better than most any of mine... it's been growing in a 1 1/2 ft deep planter.. for the last three years.. this is it's second winter.. and looks like this.. growing in front of a large vent.. for a bunch of interior bathrooms..of the hotel...
another photo of this survivor...
also.. one of the roof tops where do a private garden... and was the building gardener for about two months last year.. for the public garden there... but was sadly [ thank God... ] [ HAHAHA no big flashey brugs for them this year] let go as I didn't pull off the dead leaves often enough... on the impatients.. was used as a set...
The episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent "Boots on the Ground" with parts that were filmed on the roof... will air on Sunday, May 15th at 9:00pm on the USA Network on cable..
Oh,, will have to watch that tonight..
NY folk are just going to have to learn to "look up" :)
They are missing great stuff .. lol
Oh so clever!!! Love it : )
Nice...
Very crisp!
well.. thanks.. there's a little more to do for it... got to stucco the foam.. to make it look like the planters.. and sew the back pllows over on the top so they don't stick up above it.. like the first pillow on the right/red side..
then come up with a few more things to make to use up the last of the foam...
But the flowers are doing well... still plenty of room for them... the horseradish is blooming.. and the blue potatoes are sproutng.. with what looks now to be bule leaves .. but perhaps they will turn green.. when they are getting their growth energy from their own roots.. rather than makng leaves from the stored energy of the bule potatoes..they did make interesting blue fries.
crawfish time. pictured.. the jumbos were about the size of a small lobster..
